Despite the efforts many organizations have made toward diversity and inclusion, studies show that people of color remain underrepresented in senior leadership roles, with only 4% of executive roles held by Black, Asian, or other minority ethnic leaders in the UK (Source: McKinsey). The gap is even starker in industries like technology and finance, where talent from culturally diverse backgrounds is often overlooked for leadership opportunities.

At YDWC, we see this inequity firsthand. We’ve witnessed the challenges our members face in navigating workplaces where systemic barriers, toxic cultures, and lack of sponsorship and support can hinder their success. We believe that to solve the issues that impact us, we must come together as a community, empowering one another and sharing our knowledge and resources to help each other rise. By building our own social capital, both within and outside of our workplaces, we create a network of support that strengthens us all.
