YDWC and the University of Oxford are partnering to deliver an Executive Education course that aims to empower professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds to excel within the world’s leading economic and political institutions.

Each summer we take a group of up to 50 professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds to a city getaway in Thetford, near Cambridge. Over the course of a long weekend we immerse our members in fun and insightful residential, filled with knowledge sharing workshops and team building activities.

We are looking for individuals who are keen to broaden their experience and keen to help themselves further their careers, a Non-Executive Director position can be a great way to do that (without giving up current your role).

We care deeply for every YDWC member's well-being and recognise the value of having access to a trusted network of peers. We offer a wide range of unique programmes, including the summer retreat, which create opportunities for connection and reflection.

Executive Leadership Debate: This House Believes that race significantly impedes career progression

To bring attention to the complex issues faced by culturally diverse professionals who seek to get to the top of their respective professions, YDWC will be delivering the Executive Education Debate Series. Featuring keynote speeches from leading figures within business, politics and academia, the series will aim to take on the most vexing of questions.

In this session, we will take on the motion “This House Believes that race significantly impedes career progression”.

This house believes that the term BAME does not help to progress true Diversity & Inclusion

BAME – which is an acronym for Black, Asian, minority ethnic – is a term that is now widely accepted by the media and the corporate world. But, while BAME and BME were born out of a desire to create solidarity between minorities against racism, it is suggested that the term is now more readily used by white people to lump everyone who is not white into a singular category.

Aon’s Multicultural Network, ICAN (Insurance Cultural Awareness Network) and YDWC (Young Diverse World Changers) debate whether the term BAME is fit for purpose and whether it helps to progress true diversity &Inclusion.
